Summer Breeze, and I'm Feeling...Good.

It was a wonderful night for a moondance.

Michael and I went to see Michael Bublè last night. To say it was a great concert would be a disservice. It was fantastic; Mr. Bublè was in great form; full of energy and fire, a romantic and very entertaining performer who for over two hours kept everyone in the arena clapping and singing along to most of his hits.
But before Michael began his croonfest, his opening act, Naturally 7 got everybody up on their feet. They began the party with an acapella version of Summer Breeze. These seven men from New York didn't need any stinkin' instruments to make the most beautiful music.

I am not the most enthusiastic of Bublè fans. I do like his music, but he's not what I considered to be a superstar...that is, until I saw him live. He really put on one hell of a show last night. He strutted and danced on stage-giving the crowd his biggest hit songs with abandon. He even brought Naturally 7 back to perform Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" to great fanfare.

His most touching songs are ballads; "Home" is a favorite of mine and he really brought the emotion out, dedicating the performance to the troops overseas and their families. But the most emotionally charged performance of the night was at the end. For an encore he came out and killed the crowd with "Cry Me A River" and ended the concert with Time to Say Goodbye, through which he barely kept his composure- he announced that his grandmother had just passed away that day.

How he got through that song last night, heaven only knows. But if you are wanting to see a fantastic concert with incredible heart, humor and of course, talent, do yourself a favor and go see Michael Bublè. He is truly one of the greats.

Time For New Beginnings

Wisconsin is truly beautiful.

I've only been here for a few days and already I've fallen for the place. I wasn't so sure I would. The days leading up to the move seemed to drag on and on. The packing, the loading, the preparation for a move across two state lines was intense. Anyone who's moved to another state can attest to this, I'm sure; but this move really tested my mettle. I just wanted to get here...and after nearly 12 hours driving and two Five Hour Energy drinks later we parked the U-Haul in front of our new flat. The street we live on is tree-lined and very quiet.  Sometimes too quiet. I keep listening for sirens and street traffic and it's just not there; despite the sheer size of Milwaukee there is very little noise here on our new location as opposed to my old address in Evansville, In.

But the most wonderful thing that I've noticed here is the people. Everyone here seems so...happy. The welcome mat has been laid out for me in spades. I feel extremely fortunate to be here. As a newly minted Wisconsinite, I feel included. I feel like I should have moved here four years ago. The temperature, the weather... the ever-present breeze from the lake is intoxicating!!
At the beach on Lake Michigan

Michael and Me
7/23/14

So the logical thing for me to do is to start a new blog, one that focuses on my new life here in Wisconsin. There is a whole lifetime of experiences awaiting me here, on the shores of Lake Michigan and I can't wait to begin.

I hope to make this blog fun and interesting. I also want to capture all of the excitement and wonder that this new beginning is affording me. So here's to new beginnings!!

Love to all,
Noah
